Bartons Primary School, Bognor Regis

Remembering some former work to design and integrate the grounds of a new primary school in Bognor Regis.

The brief

Like a lot of school landscape designs I have generally been employed to produce a landscape masterplan for the site and this was certainly the case for this new build primary school project.

Sketch masterplan moves to more detailed design concepts

I enjoyed exploring the design for the area immediately outside the new classrooms as the inspiration came from the colours and arrangement of beech huts and groins at a local beach. I was able to feed these elements in and use the change in height from the terrace level to the playing field for colourful and changing perennial planting, which also emulated sand dunes.
